Aveos Update #1

A conference call was held with all Union officials and Union lawyers this morning at 10am MST to see where we go from here regarding the closure of AVEOS. The following is a summary of the information I received.
AVEOS has not returned any calls from theUnion
The CCAA notice was given to the union at 0021 EST on March 19
All Heavy MTC employees have been terminated and EMC and CMC are to Not report to work until further notice.
This closure affects 1620 employees( not all IAM).
The lawyers will be looking into Successor rights for the YEG and YYC operations.
The Union will be asking the Manitoba and Quebec provincial governments to once again challenge the Air Canada Participation Act in the Courts.
There will be a Press release and a Press Conference called today by the IAMAW Canadian Office at 1pm MST Today March 19.
Members are asked to watch the Website for any updates or Information Meetings that may be called in the near future.
